Description
John Kitto is one of the great men of deaf history, but he is not so famous today.
John was born in Plymouth in 1804. His parents were poor. John grew up to become a traveller, a famous writer and a doctor of divinity.
Queen Victoria commanded that a grant be paid to him from her Civil List, because he wrote many good books.
John had an amazing life, full of great danger, disappointments and adventure.
John was profoundly deaf.
